Two killed as govt. troops clash with armed group Print

Two members of an unidentified lawless group were killed during a clash with the government forces in Sitio Sibugon, barangay Panganuran, Sibuco, Zamboangadel Norte last Sunday afternoon.

Police Regional Information Officer Chief Insp. Helen Galvez disclosed that around 2 p.m., operatives of the Zamboangadel Norte Public Safety Company and troops of the army’s 42nd Infantry Battalion were conducting combat operations when they encountered more or less ten armed men believed to be members of a lawless group operating in the said municipality.

The firefight lasted for ten minutes leaving two dead on the enemy side and no casualty on the government.

The combined army and police troops also recovered a Garand rifle, improvised shotgun with 11 ammunitions, 112 rounds of bullets of Garand rifle, M203 grenade, handbag, six identification cards, solar panel, three cell phones, two male wallets, calculator, three camouflage shirts, one camouflage lower pants, three bandoliers and several documents.

The bodies of the slain bandits were turned over to the barangay officials of the said place.—Dan Toribio
