The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) has partnered with the barangays and public utility vehicle drivers and operators in a bid to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of the solid waste management program.

Last Tuesday, the OCENR led by Engr. Reynaldo Gonzales spearheaded a training/orientation for barangay officials at a local hotel with Mayor Beng Climaco as guest of honor. Yesterday, Wednesday, the office met with Public Utility Vehicle Drivers and Operators Association at the City Hall.

Rodrigo Pagotaisidro, Public Service Officer IV said partnering with barangay officials and the PUV drivers and operators would be a big help to the city’s campaign on cleanliness and sanitation.

A massive clean-up drive to be spearheaded by barangay officials in all barangays is set on October 1.

On the other hand, PUV drivers and operators have agreed to help educate their passengers in the proper disposal of garbage.

Pagotaisidro said the solid waste management program, as contained in Ordinance 176-2006 will require the support and cooperation of all sectors in order to ensure its successful implementation.

He said the OCENR will continue to collaborate with all other groups to help spread out the need to comply with the solid waste management program as mandated under the law. (Sheila Covarrubias/PR)
