Diaz bags silver medal in AIMAG Print

Zamboangueña Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz has again put Zamboanga City in the world map after winning a silver medal during the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) held Tuesday, at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Diaz bagged the silver medal for weightlifting in the Women’s 53-kg category, which was competed by 11 countries.

During the competition, China won the gold medal, Philippines bagged the silver, while Turkmenistan won the bronze medal.

“This is just one of the many preparations in going to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” Diaz said in an interview.

Other weightlifters competing together with Diaz are Dessa Delos Santos, Kristel Macrohon, and Elreen Ann Ando all under trainer and coach Antonio Agustin Jr.

Diaz has competed during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics, and during the 2016 Rio de Jeneiro Olympics where she won the silver medal for the Philippines. (R.G. A A. Go)
