Pre-fiesta extravaganza set in Districts 1, 2 PDF Print E-mail

The City Government’s Special Events Team has set a pre-fiesta extravaganza for Districts I and II this weekend as a prelude to the Zamboanga Hermosa Festivities set to kick off on October 1.

The pre-fiesta extravaganza for District I will be held at the Ayala gymnasium starting at 6pm today, September 23. For District II, the event will be held at the Boalan Elementary School covered court at 6pm tomorrow, September 24.

The extravaganza includes games, intermission numbers and other surprises intended to tweak give barangay folks a feel of the spirit of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.

“Basically this is to promote the Hermosa festival activities and to give the residents a feel of the festivities,” Christian Olasiman, head of the special events team declared.

The ZHF Steering Committee together with Mayor Beng Climaco last Thursday met to finalize preparations for the forthcoming month-long festivities, the highlight of which will be October 12, the feat day of Nuestra Senora La Virgen del Pilar.

Other than the social activities, most important of all would be the religious rites that will be held at the Fort Pilar Shrine in Rio Hondo.

The  police and military have prepared a comprehensive security plan to be carried out in all the activities lined up for the festival while the traffic police in coordination with the City Administrator’s Office have mapped out traffic rerouting plans to pave way for the different activities.

Mayor Climaco has also issued an executive order related to prohibitions on certain areas or streets that will be used during the conduct of the different activities from October 1-12. (Sheila Covarrubias)
