The body of a fisherman who was reported to have disappeared while fishing was already fished out off barangay Tumalutab, in Sacol Island last Friday morning.

Culianan Police Station commander Chief Insp. Hazel Fernandez disclosed that around 11:55 a.m. PO3 Dandy Harun reported to Police Station 4 that a decomposing body was found floating in the sea off Tumalutab.

The body was immediately brought to a mini wharf in arena Blanco and was later identified as Ruben Muhalid Emamel, 19, single of Purok 7, Arena Blanco.

Police said that last September 23, Emamel along with three companions identified as Musal Gani, Jamal Mangabong and Jojo Dayday, all of Arena Blanco, went to  a fishing venture in Sacol using a compressor.

It was learned that Emamel drowned after the compressor he was using malfunctioned while he was diving deep into the sea. Emamel’s body was not immediately retrieved after the accident because of heavy sea current. – Dan Toribio
