Mother and her two children seriously wounded in homemade bomb attack PDF Print E-mail

A mother and her two young children were seriously injured after an unidentified person hurled a homemade explosive at their house while they were asleep last Monday night in Sto. Nino, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Reports reaching the Police Regional Office (PRO-9) identified the victims as Melyn Garingo Sumaylo, 50, and her two children, Leo Garingo Sumaylo, 17, grade 7 and Levie Jane Garingo Sumaylo, 19, grade 11.

The victims sustained multiple injuries in the different parts of their body and were taken to Alicia Municipal Hospital.

According to Police Regional Information Officer Chief Insp. Helen Galvez,  the victims told the police that they were sleeping around 11:30 p.m. when they were woke up by a loud explosion beside their house.

The victims said they were already injured when they stood up due to the explosion.

Investigators and bomb experts said that unidentified person threw an improvised explosive device to the residence of the victims.

Police are still conducting a deeper probe to know the motive of the attack and to determine the identities of the suspects for their immediate arrest. – Dan Toribio
