CHO RHWC conducts reproductive health advocacies in schools Print

The Zamboanga City Health Office (CHO) Reproductive Health and Wellness Center (RHWC) is conducting reproductive health advocacies in the different schools located in this city for the students.

Dr. Dulce Amor Dagalea-Miravite, RHWC Physician, said in an interview that they do it annually. During the advocacy, the students are being briefed on reproductive health which includes Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV/AIDS.

The office is targeting high school and college students both in the public and private schools for the health advocacy.

According to Miravite they already went to Mercedes National High School, Pilar College, Zamboanga City High School Main, Baliwasan Senior High School, Ayala National High School, Culianan National High School, Vitali National High School, Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Western Mindanao State University, and they are also scheduled to go to other schools.

She added that “This is being done for them to be aware and informed. In effect, they can protect themselves.”

Meanwhile, after the advocacy, HIV screening is also being done for those interested and 18 years old and above. (R.G. A A. Go)
