Trade Secretary Lopez graces opening of TNK in Zamboanga PDF Print E-mail

The Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) graced the opening of Trabaho, Negosyo, at Kabuhayan (TNK) together with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) , a priority program which focus on the idea of “help people help themselves” yesterday morning at two different hotels located in this city.

Ramon M. Lopez, DTI secretary, said in an interview that this type of activity is very important and necessary as people will have choices either he or she will be a job- seeker, shopper, interested in business, or by curiosity attend the seminars being offered.

“This shows the convergence of agencies all in the objective of uplifting the lives of our people because this is our ambition and passion especially of the President,” Lopez said

He said that the passion of President Rodrigo Duterte is to help those hopeless, jobless, and those who are in poverty. Because of these he said that the public must be empowered to have jobs or go into business as the office aims to help others help themselves.

The secretary first went to formally open the TNK, Zampex, followed by a press conference, investment conference, and industry visit where the he visited canning factories and Carageenan factory.

Major activities during the TNK are the Zamboanga Peninsula Exposition (Zampex) 2017, Zamboanga Peninsula Investment Conference (ZamPen Icon), Slingshot Halal Philippines, and the Regional Consumers Conference (RECCON). Aside from these, there are also job fair for job seekers.

Zampex it is the region’s biggest and grandest marketing platform dedicated to the promotion of the peninsula’s best products by the Micro, Small, and Medium enterprises (MSMEs). This will promote locally made products of MSMEs in the region.

Products displayed will include jewelries, furniture and furnishing, gift, toys, and housewares, organic and nature products, processed fruits, arts and crafts, and holiday decors.

ZamPen Icon will be done for the first time to promote the region as a viable investment destination in the country and improve the investment climate of the region.

Slingshot Halal Philippines will be done to discuss programs for start-up innovations in the Philippines especially for Halal-related products and increase awareness on Halal.

The RECCON will provide information and updates on laws concerning consumerism to the public for a wider scope of consumer protection rights in the business place.

TNK is designed to realize Ambisyon 2040 and the 2030 agenda for sustainable development and economic growth. To recall, President Rodrigo R. Duterte signed Executive Order 25 approving the 25-year long term vision for the Philippines dubbed as Ambisyon 2040.

Present during the activity were DTI 9 Regional Director Sitti Amina Jain, DTI Assistant Secretary Demphna Du-Naga, DTI Under Secretary Rowel Barba, DOLE Under Secretary Joel Maglunsod, DOLE 9 Regional Director Ofelia Domingo, and Maria Luna Cacanando, President of the Small Businesses Corporation.
