Mayor Beng cites security sector for successful Hermosa Festival PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Beng Climaco has highly praised military and police authorities, barangays and all volunteer groups for exerting their best efforts to ensure a safe and orderly celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival that culminated Thursday, October 12 with the grand procession in honor of the feast of Nuestra Senora La Virgen del Pilar.

Likewise, the mayor thanked the public for the cooperation and support to all the security measures put in place that helped contribute to a peaceful and orderly conduct of activities for the festival. She also expressed gratitude to the Special Events Team for organizing the events with the support and assistance of the different city departments and national agencies.

She cited the efforts of Acting City Police Director PSSupt. Neri Vincent Ignacio and Task Force Zamboanga Chief Col. Leonel Nicolas for effective and efficient leadership and for closely collaborating with each other that led to the effective execution of security plans.

Aside from the police and the military, other law enforcement agencies including the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Maritime Police and other branches of the AFP and the PNP contributed much for the security and order of all the activities.

The mayor also expressed gratitude to all the participants of the different activities that were well-attended and well-executed.

“With the grace of God and Nuestra Senora La Virgen del Pilar, everybody did their part well- Muslims, Christians and Lumads that resulted to the successful fiesta celebration”, the mayor declared.

Uniformed and non-uniformed police and military personnel were deployed to the field in every activity lined up for the festival starting October 1 until yesterday, Oct. 12, to ensure public safety and security. The Smoke Out –Grilled food fiesta and the grand midnight sale at the R.T. Lim Boulevard started Sept. 30 – Oct. 11.  (Sheila Covarrubias)
