PDEA: City Jail is drug-free Print

Agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office-9 (PDEA9) backed by policemen  from the City Police Office conducted a surprised inspection  to inmates detention cell inside  the  Zamboanga City Reformatory Center at dawn yesterday  in search  for illegal drugs commonly known  to many as ‘shabu’.

PDEA-9 team leader Agent Anju Villanueva said the  searched was carried out at about 4 am, inside the ZCRC along Varela Street, in this city.

Villanueva said that after their extensive search they did not found any prohibited substance inside the cells of the inmates prompting them to declare the jail as drug free center.

“Inmates inside Zamboanga City Jail fully cooperated with  the police and PDEA operatives in the conduct of checking and inspection of their belongings but we found out nothing”. Villanueva said

As early as 3 am, Saturday, law enforcers along with their K-9 dogs were deployed  at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Meanwhile, PDEA Team leader Agent Anju Villanueva commended Jail Warden Supt. Allan Vargas for a cleaned and well managed jail facility in Zamboanga Peninsula.

Vargas said that cleanliness and sanitation is part of our mandate under the  Oplan Linis Piitan” headed by our newly BJMP Acting Chief, J/Chief Supt Deogracias Carreon Tapayan (Ely Dumaboc)
