Seven persons were injured when the van they were riding on crashed and fell on its side along Kilometer 26 in Manicahan yesterday morning.

Sangali Police Station Chief, Chief Inspector Chester Natividad said that the Nissan passenger van was coming from Bunguiao and heading towards the city proper when the accident happened at around 9:30am.

Based on investigation, the driver failed to maneuver the steering wheel causing the vehicle to ram against a concrete post and fall on its side.  The van was reportedly travelling on high speed.

Natividad identified the driver as Aljohn Araneta y Delos Reyes, 27, married and a resident of Bunguiao.

The six passengers who sustained injuries were identified as Twinkle Zabala y Manuel, 27; Shiela Gonzales y Enriquez, 28; Nelson Gonzales y Gequilan, 37; John Carl Lim y Francisco, 10; Darwin Natividad y Santiago, 40; and Salvador Nojalda y Villaruel, 35.

Concerned residents and authorities brought the victims to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

The vehicle incurred major damage as a result of the incident.  (Dan Toribio)
