Rains will continue to batter Zamboanga after weather distrubances were recorded within the Philippine Area of Responsibility, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA.)

PAGASA Officer in Charge Alan Ray Ribo said that this is caused by at least three weather disturbances observed all over the country.

Storm Paolo has reportedly developed into a severe tropical storm with winds of about 90kph near the center.  The storm’s eye was observed yesterday 700 east of Samar.

Furthermore, Ribo said that the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is causing light to moderate rains to fall on the Zamboanga Peninsula.

A low pressure area in Coron Palawan is also contributing to moderate rains in Mindanao.

“Kung magpapatuloy ang takbo ni Paolo ng 7 kph, malamang na sa susunod na four days ay maulap ang kalangitan, may heavy rains mula hapon hanggang gabi,”  Ribo said.  (Liza Jocson)
