The City Engineer’s Office has registered more than P15-million in damages on infrastructure as a result of heavy rains last week.

Engr. Christopher Navarro, OIC City Engineer, said that damages were noted on slope protection projects located in barangays Tugbungan, Guiwan, Tetuan, Sta Maria, Ayala and Limpapa.

Other infrastructure projects damaged are the spillway approach in barangay Pamucutan and the cross drain in Boalan.

Navarro said that residents living along the riverbanks have become a factor why the slope protection projects were damaged.

“Si tiene hente na riverbank y nohay proper waste disposal diila waste water, el tierra atras na slope protection tan saturate until such time saturated ya el tierra el agua ta buska manera quelaya eskapa,” Navarro explained.

He is appealing to barangay officials not to allow persons to stay along the riverbanks for their own safety.

Navarro said that they have also made the foundation for the slope protection stronger.

He also instructed contractors to follow the design and specification of the projects.  (RGAAGo)
