A remote-controlled spy plane crashed at dawn yesterday near the Edwin Andrews Airbase (EAAB).

Witnesses said that the spyplane crashed at around 4:30am.

A vendor who requested anonymity who is residing in the area said they heard a loud crash and saw the plane fragments adjacent to the fence of the airbase.

Based on the plane’s condition, the witness said that the plane appeared to have landed first on a jackfruit tree and some electric cables before it crashed straight on to the fence.

Another witness said US soldiers prevented them from taking photos and immediately cleaned the area of the plane fragments.

Witnesses said that some parts of the plane such as the antenna was destroyed due to the impact. (Dan Toribio)
