Zambo Sur fire leaves P1.1-M in damages Print

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Zamboanga del Sur reported that the recent conflagration in Purok Mahogany, Poblacion Sominot, left P1.1 million in damages.

A report from the BFP and police disclosed that the conflagration took place at 10:50 p.m. last Tuesday and razed residential houses and business establishments.

Fire and police investigators enumerated the affected structures as the RTW and dry goods store of Mrs. Margie Bucol Yatco, 42, married; Tanilon Carinderia of Mrs. Nerie Ursaiz Tanilon, 43, businesswoman, married and a resident of said place;  Ong sari-sari store of Mrs. Lyn Travero Ong, 41, married;  residential house of Juliet Bucol Gampoan, 50, teacher, married; residential house of Mrs. Bregida Bucol Malig-On, 44, LGU employee, married; residential house of Mrs. Lolita Antigue Baloran, 70, housekeeper, widower.

All establishments were turned to ashes except the residential house of Mrs. Baloran, which was partially damaged.

Investigators said that the estimated damages amounted to P1, 190,000 while the cause of fire remains under investigation. – Dan Toribio
