Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco- Salazar has called on the Zamboanga city Schools Division to investigate the reported defiance of AB Simpson Alliance School in following an order by the local chief executive to suspend classes last week due to inclement weather.

The call for an investigation came in the form of a resolution passed during yesterday’s Local School Board meeting.

The resolution calls on the Dep-Ed Division Office to hold an impartial investigation on the matter and determine the liability of the school management for defying the Mayor’s order.

The resolution also calls on the Dep-Ed to recommend possible sanctions.

Climaco said that despite the interest of school officials to pursue its mandate, the management must have also considered the bad weather condition which could put in danger the lives of its students and their faculty.

“Dep-Ed should look into the possible sanctions to AB Simpson Alliance School for not following the directives of the local government.  They should be made answerable for it,”  Climaco said.

The Mayor also called on the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to check on  records to check if the school made a deduction on wages of employees who decided not to go to work on that day,  (Bhong Simbajon)
