A former barangay councilman (kagawad) of Dulian was reported to have shot himself to death inside their residence early yesterday morning.
Luduvino Zapanta y Macario, 62, married, sustained a bullet wound in the head.

Chief Insp. Elmer Acuña, chief of the Sangali Police Station, said the incident took place around 3:30 a.m. in a veranda.
Acuña said that Zapanta’s son PO2 Andres Zapanta handed to the investigator a .38 cal. revolver that was used by his father in shooting himself.

Police said that Zapanta shot himself while other members of the family were sleeping inside their house.
Personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) proceeded to the scene, conducted ocular investigation and gathered some evidence.
Acuña said that no one could tell what pushed Zapanta to kill himself.

There were no other details about the incident as relatives could not believe that Zapanta would commit suicide.
Acuña added that his men were still digging deeper into  the case.
