A woman is now in critical condition at a local hospital after being ran over by a stolen motorcycle in Ayala last Wednesday.

Sr. Inspector Albert Alfaro, Ayala Police Station Chief, identified the victim as Fertausa Usman of Sinubong.

Alfaro said that the motorcycle was driven by a certain Nurhani Sahidjuan y Hawali, the suspected thief, when the accident took place.

Initial investigation showed that Sahidjuan allegedly stole the motorcycle owned by Yogen Corpin Sultan, married and a resident of Zone 8, Calle Assumption, Ayala.

Sultan’s cousin, Leonard Sultan y Manait, was driving the motorcycle when he was invited by a friend to join a drinking session.

Leonard joined his friend leaving the key on the ignition.

Sahidjuan arrived several minutes later and sped away with the motorcycle.

A couple of seconds later, Sahidjuan hit Usman who was walking along the road.

Police were able to arrest Sahidjuan and impounded the motorcycle at the Ayala Police Station.  (Dan Toribio)
