The Highway Patrol Group-9 (HPG-9) turned over a carnapped van to the owner of a transport rental service last Thursday in Camp Batalla.

HPG-9 Chief Sr. Supt Joel R. Dimaano said that the van was turned over to Ms. Annabelle A. Luspian, owner of Cobelam Transport Service Corporation, a Baguio-city based company.

Dimaano said that the Toyota van was recovered last Monday during anti- carnapping hot pursuit operations in barangay Ayala.

The troopers were alerted on the presence of the van in Ayala due to its Global Positioning System.

The unit was reportedly rented by a certain Asuncion Estoguey from October 18 to 22 but the latter failed to return the vehicle to the company, thus alerting its owners.

Dimaano said that based on the GPS, the vehicle was moved to Iloilo city on to Iligan city and then to Zamboanga city.

It was also found out that the unit was sold  in Iligan city for P350,000 and is set to be sold in Zamboanga city anew when it was intercepted by the HPG.  (Allen Abastillas)
