The august body passed the resolution unanimously during their session last Wednesday, October 25,2017.

The resolution authored by Councilor Clarito B. San Juan is asking the Chief Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU-9 ), Civil Security Group Camp Crame, and Police Regional Office-9 to conduct the said caravan in Lamitan City in order to make the registration and renewal of license of firearms more convenient and accessible to the gun holders in the city and the province

According to Councilor Joaquin Puri Jr., most gun holders cannot bring their firearms (without a permit to carry papers) here in Zamboanga City for the neessary processing at Camp Batalla because of the rigid security at the port of Zamboanga.

Puri said that gun holders in Lamitan City  are law-abiding and responsible and so they are interest in renewing the license of their firearms on time.

The councilor said most of the legitimate gun holders in Lamitan are government officials and businessmen.

“They possess licensed firearms for obvious security reason ,” Puri stressed. (Allen Abastillas)
