A bar girl who was brutally killed and dumped in a canal in barangay Sinunuc last Wednesday was also a police asset, according to a police official.

Sinunuc Police Station Chief, Sr Insp Daniel Taub identified victim Marjorie C. Romulo as a “police asset” used by authorities in providing information to aid them in the war against illegal drugs.

Taub identified Romulo as a resident of Dipolog city and a Hotel and Restaurant Management student of Saint Vincent College for schoolyear 2012-2013.

Romulo was also working as an entertainer in at least three bars in the city, most of which are located along Governor Camins Avenue.

Investigation showed that a certain male witness, identified as Gloria Bucoy y Madual was sweeping in front of the Pitogo Alliance church when he saw the victim’s lifeless body at the road’s concrete drainage.

Interviews conducted with residents in the area proved negative as to the girl’s identity.

A follow-up investigation however brought police to a pension house in barangay Sta Maria where the victim reportedly stayed for a month.

Police thus recovered the personal belongings of the victim which included her student identification card.

Police also found food and drinks and underwear belonging to an unidentified man.  (Dan Toribio)
