2 militiamen killed in ASG ambush Print

Two members of the Civilian Army Auxiliary (CAA) were killed  in an ambush by suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf group in Sumisip, Basilan.

Basilan Provincial Police Director Sr Supt Nickson Muksan  identified the fatalities as   CAA Samie J Jairulla  and CAA Abdulla P Tabjili, elements of the Kaumpamatsaken Detachment.

The two fatalities died on the spot from bullet wounds.

The incident transpired at  about 7:50 am yesterday at Sitio Dak-Dak in the village of Kaumpamatsaken in  Sumisip, Basilan Province.

According to Muksan, the two militiamen were on board a  motorcycle  going  to Barangay Buli-Buli to get rice and other foodstuff when they were strafed with automatic gunfire by still unidentified members of the Abu Sayyaf.

The service  firearms of the two victims were also taken by the  perpetrators.

Military and police authorities conducted blocking operations and  fired six rounds of 81mm mortar towards the enemy position.

Another group of soldiers also conducted blocking operationat Sitio Nursery in the town of Baiwas.  (Ely Dumaboc)
