Classes and work will continue amid the conduct of National Youth Day (NYD) events in the city of Zamboanga.

This is the response to queries by residents on the possible suspension of work and classes to avoid traffic congestion brought about by outdoor activities of the NYD.

Mark Saavedra, NYD Executive Secretary, said that the national government dis approved a request  for a holiday  declaration on November 6,9 and 10; days when the activities will be at its peak.

“Accordingly nohay na level del local government to declare a holiday for this event,” Saavedra explained.

Saavedra however said that Catholic schools have suspended their classes to give way to the NYD activities.

At least four Catholic schools are serving as venues for activities related to the National Youth Day.

Meanwhile, social media was flooded by complaints by netizen on the traffic congestion which stranded thousands of commuters last Monday.  (LAJ)
