A 35-year-old man was arrested by authorities for allegedly maltreating his girlfriend and live-in partner.

A police report showed that Gervacio Francisco Fajardo was charged for violation of Republic Act 9262 and was brought to the City Prosecutor’s Office for an inquest proceeding last Wednesday afternoon.

Fajardo’s live-in partner, a 28-year-old woman, initially sought assistance from barangay officials and the police last Monday due to maltreatment suffered from Fajardo.

The victim said that she also suffered injuries inflicted by Fajardo last October 31.

The incident was proven by a medico-legal certificate presented by the victim to the police.

A repeat of the incident last Monday prompted the victim to seek police assistance to arrest Fajardo.

After complying with all the necessary documents, police brought the suspect to the Prosecutor’s Office last Wednesday afternoon for the inquest proceeding.

The case was received and signed by Atty. Eva Aireen Monteza-Cadavedo, Assistant Regional Prosecutor.

Fajardo availed of the 15-day waiver and was detained again at the Sta. Maria Police Station. – Dan Toribio
