A woman was killed after being electrocuted by an illegally tapped live wire in Barangay Mangusu last Wednesday.

A Police Regional Office-9 report identified the victim as Marlyn Nones Anonat, married, and a resident of Lower Sibulao, Zamboanga city.

The report said that the victim was harvesting bananas at the back of their house when she accidentally held an electric cable connected to the house of her neighbor, Ronnie Valecillo Desaca.

Neighbors initially heard a spark and a lightning-like sound and upon inspection, saw Anonat lying on the ground with injuries on her right hand.

The wire from Desaca’s house was reportedly tapped from the house of a certain “Imu,”  according to the report.

The victim’s body was brought to the Vitali Lying-in Clinic and later on to a funeral parlor. (Dan Toribio)
