The budol budol gang struck anew in Dapitan city last Thursday and conned a 74-year old retired school teacher of her savings.

A Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) report identified the victim as Cleopatra Drilon Campoy, a 74-year old retired teacher, a widow and a resident of Purok Central, Olingan, Dipolog city.

The victim was reportedly duped by three women and a man while the former was walking along Rizal Avenue, Barangay Central Dipolog city last Thursday.

While the victim was about to enter a store in the area, a woman reportedly approached her and introduced herself as a certain “Thess Inding,” a former pupil.

Moments later another woman joined the two and  introduced herself as a Malaysian national who was looking for a hardware in the area.

The retired teacher and her alleged pupil tried to accompany the second suspect to the hardware but instead of going towards the direction of the establishment,  the two female suspects brought the victim towards the direction of a building where a male suspect with a car was waiting.

The car driver offered the teacher a ride home which was accepted.  Soon after, the driver fetched another female passenger along the way to the victim’s home.

While driving, the male driver offered the victim a chance for her money to be doubled, an offer to which the retired teacher agreed to.

Upon arriving home, the victim got her savings amounting to P10,000 and gave it to the suspect who then put the money in a paper bag and a pink envelope bag.

The suspects then handed back the bag to the victim and promised to come back.

When the victim opened the bag, she found five pieces of pad paper inside and her money gone.

The Dipolog City Police Station is still conducting a follow up operation to identify and arrest the suspects.  (Liza Jocson)
