Six arrested for illegal gambling Print

Six persons were arrested after they were caught playing “talang” along Pilar Street last Friday afternoon.

Police identified the suspects as Alraphy Apil y Tahil, 20, single of Mampang; Alfaizal Mohammad y Hassan, 19, single of Sta. Brabara; Marwin Usman y Tapsi, 17, single of Sta. Catalina; Mohammad Hatta Salahuddin Y Karanain, 16, single of Talon-Talon; Mohammad Jason Indanan y Suare, 17, of Mampang and Rasdi Munif y Bail, 17, single of Talon Talon.

A police report disclosed that City Police Director Sr. Supt. Neri Vincent Ignacio  himself reported the incident to the Zamboanga City Public Safety Company  after he spotted the group of persons playing talang.

Acting on the report, policemen swooped down on the place and arrested the suspects.

Police confiscated from their possession toss coins and bet money.

Around 3 p.m. Saturday, the suspects were taken to the City Prosecutor Office for an inquest proceeding for violation of Presidential Decree 1602.

However the suspects availed of the 15-day waiver and were detained again at the police station. – Dan Toribio
