A man who has allegedly misrepresented himself as an officer and a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) was arrested last Monday.

Sinunuc Police Station Commander Sr Insp Daniel Taub identified the suspect as Raymond Candido Julian of Calarian.

Julian gave himself away after reportedly acting discourteously towards Technical Sgt Ariel Carucda Cabarubias when the former visited the office of the SOCOM at the Western Mindanao Command.

Julian reportedly identified himself as Capt Raymond Julian,  a member of PMA Class 2006 and a Commanding Officer of the Light Reaction Company.

Based on investigation the subject was not a PMA graduate nor affiliated with any branch of the Armed Forces.

The subject reportedly failed to answer some passwords and quotes only known to graduates of the Academy.

Investigation further showed that Julian was able to collect P1,000 from a certain Boy Tujajin Salain, a native of Tipo Tipo Basilan after promising the latter work as a Civilian Volunteer.

Julian was brought to the police station and is facing charges of Usurpation of Authority and Extortion.  (Dan Toribio)
