Fifteen unidentified armed men, believed to be members of the Abu Sayyaf group, abducted six persons in Barangay Latih, Patikul, Sulu Tuesday night.

Task Force Sulu Commander Gen. Cirilito Sobejana identified  the victims as Jessy Trinidad, 55; Nene Trinidad, 56; Aloh Trinidad, 22; Lucy Hapole, 21;  Junjun Hapole, 13 and Nelson  Hapole, 7.

The victims were reportedly taken at gunpoint from Phase 4,  Kalimayahan Village, Barangay Latih, Patikul at around 8:45pm. Sobejana said that the incident was  reported by residents to the JTF Sulu Headquarters which immediately dispatched quick reaction teams to verify the report and conduct hot pursuit  operations.

“This incident again demonstrates that the notorious   kidnappers in Sulu are victimizing anybody including their  fellow Tausugs even those who have less in life.  Such hostility  reminds us that security is everybody’s responsibility,” said  Sobejana.

Sobejana also advised civilians to take pro-active measures in reporting anything unusual in their communities.  (Ely Dumaboc)
