Omar Amping, a man linked to several shooting incidents in the city, is facing more murder charges after his arrest in Tongkil Sulu by naval forces last Monday.

Police intelligence led by Chief Inspector Edilberto Alvarez served warrants of arrest for murder committed in Zamboanga city against Amping right inside his detention cell at the Zamboanga City Police Office yesterday.

Police served warrants of arrest for Murder and Attempted Murder against Amping, whose capture is covered by a DILG monetary reward of P250,000.

The warrants of arrest for Murder and Attempted Murder were issued by Judge Tibing Asaali dated Nov. 8, 2011, RTC9 Branch 17 and Judge Gregorio De la Peña III dated Aug. 5, 2010, RTC9 Branch 12 respectively. The warrant of arrest was issued by former Judge Jesus C Carbon, RTC Br 16 dated Aug. 4, 2010 and case number 26041-26044 issued by Judge Gregorio De la Peña III dated Aug. 5, 2010, RTC9 Br 12 respectively.

Amping and five other suspects were brought to the Zamboanga city Police Office for temporary detention by Naval Forces Western Mindanao after they were arrested for a shooting incident in Sulu.

The six are suspects in the shooting at a fishing boat.

Police said that two bodies were recovered from the vessel.  (Dan Toribio)
