Another murder suspect and gun-for-hire personality was neutralized by PNP elements, this time in Sindangan Municipality Zamboanga del Norte, last Tuesday.

Police may have foiled possible future assassinations after photos of two persons and road instructions printed on bond paper were found from the suspect.

A Police Regional Office-9 report identified the subject as Rene Carcillas, 49 years old, and a resident of Barangay Diquis, Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The report said that Carcillas was neutralized by elements of the Sindangan Municipal Police Station and the Regional Public Safety Battalion at a checkpoint in Barangay Balok.

Authorities were conducting a checkpoint when they intercepted Carcillas and a companion aboard a motorcycle.

While RPSB9 personnel were approaching the suspect, the latter drew his handgun and fired towards the lawmen.

The police dropped to the ground and returned fire, hitting Carcillas fatally.

Carcillas’ companion managed to flee and headed towards the Municipality of Siayan.

Police brought Carcillas to the Sindangan District Hospital for medical treatment where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered the following items from the suspect: P5,000 and bond paper sheets showing photos of a male product merchandiser,  a woman and road instructions.  (LAJ)
