Thousands are expected to join a grand rally in major cities in the Philippines to espouse constitutional change and adopt a Federal system of government.

The rally, dubbed as “Rev-Gov Now Na”, is expected to be attended by thousands of residents coming from Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte.

For Zamboanga Peninsula, the grand rally will be held at the Capitol grounds, Ipil Heights in Zamboanga Sibugay  province at 1pm today.

Revolutionary Government (RevGov) Chair for ZamPen  Lucy Torejas said that dozens of speakers who are experts in the system and the Federal form of government were invited to discuss the issue.

Among the issues to be discussed in today’s rally are: The establishment of a Federal system and a constitution  that will eventually replace the 1987 Constitution, establishing a federal system of government to propel the future economy and the needs of the country, strengthening the security of the country in relation to the Internal Security Act, accelerate the modernization act to strengthen the capability of the Armed Forces and the Philippine National Police to respond to threats to national security, destroy illegal drug syndicates and welcome nations who will want to help the country in terms of financial and educational assistance.Among the organizations supporting RevGov are MRRD AGILA, MRRD NECC PHILS INC., People Solidarity Federal Party, Zamboangueños Federalismo Movement, Zamboanga Council Badjao and Samal, PDP-Laban Basilan, Sulu and Tawi Tawi.

Another supporter is the People’s Solidarity Federal Party of the Philippines, an emerging party who supported President Duterte but is not aligned to any existing traditional political party.  The party has adopted Federalism as its basic ideology with a modality to reconfigure the system of goverment, a modality that is grassroots-based.  (Ely Dumaboc)
