The City Council has identified four areas in the city to be developed for tourism purposes.

One of this is the group of  Eleven Islands which could be developed as a marine sanctuary.

Another is the Bog Lake in Upper Calarian which can be utilized to put up a crocodile farm.

There are also plans to develop a 200 hectare eco-park to be used for camping  and the development of a mangrove plantation in the barangays of Arena Blanco, Talon Talon and Mampang.

The resolution was addressed to Department of Tourism-9 Regional Director Butch Blanco for the DOT’s consideration.

Councilor Kim Elago said that the Badjao community could be given an opportunity to construct their village in the Eleven Islands and be given a one-kilometer coastline which they can exclusively use for fishing. (Allen Abastillas)
