Zamboangueña doc receives award PDF Print E-mail

A Zamboangueña doctor was awarded by the Philippine Society of Otorhinolaryngology as Most Outstanding Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) Specialist in Community Service last December 1 in Manila.

Dr. Zaida Sadain Urao, an ENT Head and Neck Surgery Specialist, was conferred the award after she was nominated by the organization’s Southern Mindanao Chapter.

She was awarded for her exemplary performance in the field of ENT head and neck surgery in the community.

Dr Urao  held several medical missions in the city, including providing medical services  during the September 2013 Zambaonga siege.

During her stint as Zamboanga City Medical Society President from 2015 to 2016, the group was awarded as Most Outstanding medical society in Community Service and the Pujalte award for Exemplary Humanitarian Service during times of calamity.

She also brought free services such as free haircut and feeding program to her medical missions.

“Social service is an advocacy worth performing for the community and our nation. I feel honored to receive an award from the Philippine Society of Otorhinolaryngology,” Urao said.

Urao received a trophy during the fellowship night of the Philippine Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery where 700 ENT specialists were present.

Dr. Gabriel de Borja President of the Philippine Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and Awards Committee Chairman Dr.Samantha Cainghug-Baillo handed the trophy to Urao.

Other awardees include: Dr. Natividad Almazan for teaching and  Dr. Emmanuel Tadeus Cruz for research.

Dr. Urao is a resident of barangay San Roque, married to Engineer Al Urao, and blessed with three children. The doctor is the daughter of Said and Angelina Sadain. (R.G. A A. Go)
