DOLE to employers: Release 13th month pay on time Print

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zamboanga City office is urging all employers to release the 13th month pay in time for the holiday season.

“Conel maga negosyante cerca ya el Pascua, ta apela kame con ustedes paga el 13th month pay del maga hente ta trabaha con ustedes antes de Disyembre 24. Si pwede na petcha 15 para pwede sila usa compra las cosas para na pascua,” Ian Lahi, Chief DOLE Zamboanga city office said in an interview.

Presidential Decree No. 851 requires employers to pay their rank and file employees 13th month pay, regardless of the nature of their employment and irrespective of the methods by which their wages are paid, provided they worked for at least one month during a calendar year.

The 13th month pay shall not be less than one-twelfth (1/12) of the total basic salary earned by an employee in a calendar year.

He said that DOLE’s Labor Law Compliance Officer is also conducting the monitoring to check the payment of 13th month pay by the employers to employees.  (RGAAGo)
