The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has registered a total of 4,963 regular voters and 413 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters at the end of registration last November 30.

Comelec  District 1 Election Officer  Atty. Stephen Roy Cañete said that they were able to register 2,692 regular voters and 122 SK voters for the district.

For District 2, Election Officer Atty. Lerdo Matildo Jr. said that they were able to register 2,271 regular voters and 291 SK voters.

Both election officers said that these newly registered voters will still have to pass the Election Registration Board (ERB) review to be conducted during the third week of December for both districts.

The ERB for district 1 is composed of Department of Education Schools Division Superintendent Felix Triambulo, Acting City Treasurer Romelita Candido, and Cañete while for district 2, the ERB is composed of Triambulo, City Civil Registrar Atty. Alexander Elias, and Matildo.

Comelec will forward these documents to Comelec Manila so that the central office can run the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to check on multiple registrants.

District 1 covers 37 barangays with 226,452 registered voters while district 2 covers 61 barangays with 213,208 registered voters.

For the SK, district 1 has 76,740 voters while  there are 69,893 voters  for district 2.

These numbers will increase after the ERB confirms the new voters.

The registration was reopened in preparation for the May 2018 Barangay and SK Elections through Comelec resolution 10214, the resumption of the system of continuing registration of voters. (R.G. A A. Go)
