The barangay council of San Roque has acquired equipment for its plastic recycling project to start next year.

San Roque Barangay Chairman Joselito Macrohon said that the barangay has purchased P500,000 worth of plastic densifier to be used in recycling plastic.

The equipment arrived last December 5.

From the houses, plastic bags will be brought to the San Roque Material Recovery Facility for processing.

According to Macrohon, the plastic densifier  will be used with a shredder to transform the plastics into small pieces before placing it in the machine.

Ccoking oil will be mixed with the small plastic pieces which will then be processed and placed in molds.

The barangay will still decide on what mold to get. Molds available are for hollow blocks, plant pot, and chairs.

The used oil will come from fast food outlets  which will be obtained through the Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR.)

The machine will be operational by the second week of January 2018.

“Ahora pwede ya man recycle conel plastic with the use of the technology. Ay menora el basura ta lieva buta na sanitary landfill.” Macrohon said.  (R.G. A A. Go)
