Coast Guard personnel have fished out a male cadaver off the waters of Sta Cruz island yesterday morning.

Authorities are still investigating if the body belongs to a male passenger of a vessel who reportedly jumped off the boat during a voyage to Tawi Tawi.

The cadaver was initially spotted near the Baliwasan coastline and was said to be taken by the tide to Sta Cruz island where it was retrieved by Coast Guard personnel and brought to Paniran.

During an ocular investigation, Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found out that the person has been dead for almost a week as the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition.

The victim was wearing only a black underwear with no visible contusions on the body.

The cadaver was taken to a funeral parlor for post mortem examination.  (Dan Toribio)
