A businesswoman who previously survived a gun attack was finally killed by an assassin who chased his victim’s tricycle and gun her down along Guiwan Highway, this city last Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Jenalis Curambao Niida alias Vahjin, 33 years old, and a resident of Callejon Drive Guiwan.

Initial investigation showed that shortly before 10pm, Niida boarded a tricycle from Guiwan and told the driver to bring her to Alejo Alvarez in San Jose.

While the tricycle was travelling near the junction of Guiwan Porcentro, the still unidentified suspect chased the tricycle, stopped ahead of them and shot Niida three times.

The suspect then sped away towards Tetuan Highway.

The tricycle driver ran away out of fear but later returned to the scene.

Niida was brought to the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) but was declared dead on arrival by doctors.

Recall that last October 2014, Niida was able to survive a gun attack at the entrance of Callejon Drive.

A case against the gunman is still pending in court.

Police are looking into personal grudge as a possible motive, saying that the killing is likely to have a connection to the earlier incident.  (Dan Toribio)
