The Regional Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) games kicked off in Dipolog City early this week.

Hundreds of participants from the cities of Zamboanga, Isabela, Pagadian and the host city joined the athletic parade from Rizal Park and converged at the Andres Bonifacio College for the opening ceremonies.

Dipolog City Mayor Darel Dexter Uy acknowledged the different delegations and lauded the PRISAA organizers headed by its National Executive Director Bong Atilano for organizing the competition.

Uy challenged the participants to engage in sports activities and promote their talents for further interaction in the community.

“As we once again host this prestigious regional PRISAA games, we really need to promote sports for youth development and to foster camaraderie and friendship,” said Uy.

The athletic parade and opening ceremonies were followed by the traditional Mayor’s Night at the Dipolog boulevard where all technical officials and guests met for dinner.

A total of 735 delegations will participate in sports such as athletics, badminton, boxing, chess, dance sport, karatedo, tennis, swimming, volleyball and vocal solo/ duet.

Zamboanga city will be hosting the 2019 PRISAA regional games.  (Monch Follosco)
