A new sniffing dog was donated by a civic organization to ensure that illegal drugs will not be able to enter  the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC).

Rotary Metro Zamboanga donated the P250,000 trained Jack Russel sniffing dog to the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center yesterday.

Zamboanga City jail warden Chief Insp. Nathaniel Aljas said that the dog will be stationed at the gate to check the bags of visitors.

The dog will also be used during inspection activities together with police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA.)

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Regional Director Deogracias Tapayan expressed his gratitude to Rotary saying that this will be a great help in ensuring that the jail remains as a drug-free facility.

The donation is a project of the Rotary Metro and the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center. (Remus Ong)
