A total of 8,440 female students are expected to be given an HPV vaccine used for Cervical Cancer prevention.

Dr. Dulce Amor Dagalea- Miravite, OIC-City Health Officer, said that the recipients are grade four students from the city’s Puericulture Center and public schools.

The students received the first dose of the vaccination last August.

They are expected to receive the second dose this February.

Miravite said that the CHO is just waiting for the syringes to arrive.

The syringe and the vaccine itself come from the Department of Health (DOH.)

“Si pwede kita man prevent by getting the HPV vaccine, why not? Once you have the cancer nuay tu cosa pwede hace. Talli ya el cancer,” warned Miravite.

She described cervical and breast cancer as the most common types of cancer for women.  (RGAAGo)
