A 52-year old man and his wife were injured when unidentified armed  men fired at their driver while the group was travelling along the national highway in Dumingag Zamboanga del Sur last Saturday.

A Police Regional Office-9 report identified the couple as Isagani Balili  and his wife, Geraldine Balili.

The driver, Raffy G. Zisa was also injured.

Investigation showed that the Balili couple hired Zisa to transport their bamboo furniture from Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

The couple was sitting beside Zisa in the Isuzu elf vehicle when two unidentified men riding in tandem on a motorcycle positioned themselves on Zisa’s side.

One of the two suspects then fired shots, injuring Zisa.  The bullet however pierced through the driver, hitting both Isagani and Geraldine on their legs.

The assailants escaped towards Guitran Bridge.

Police recovered six fired shells from  a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene and another from the left leg of Geraldine.

Personnel from the Dumingag Municipal Police Station are conducting an investigation into the motive of the incident.  (LAJ)
