Hundreds of city government employees participated in the first quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill held in Zamboanga City yesterday.

The drill started at 2 p.m. with the whaling of the City Hall siren.

Hundreds of employees executed the duck cover and hold as they rushed out from the City Hall main and annex buildings.

Government employees in buildings in nearby Pettit Barracks and along Villalobos Street executed the same maneuver.

The Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) served as the pilot school for the drill this year.

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco- Salazar underscored the importance of joining the simultaneous earthquake drill regularly as part of the city's preparation against calamities and disasters.

The activity was sprearheaded by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in collaboration with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMO) .  (Remus Ong)
