The hacked body of a woman was found buried near a creek in Sitio Cabigan, Barangay Maasin, this city yesterday morning.

Police are conducting manhunt operations against the woman’s live-in partner after police tagged him as the main suspect behind the crime.

The victim was identified as Rizamae Toribio y Cuartocruz, 22 years old.

Toribio’s body was found buried near a creek located within the property of her live-in partner, 40-year-old Edison Macansantos.

Police are now hunting down Macansantos, who was reported missing after the discovery of Toribio’s body.

Macansantos was said to have been maltreating Toribio prior to the incident.

The discovery of Toribio’s cadaver is the latest in a series of incidents involving violence perpetrated against women.

Last month, the cadaver of a guest relations officer was discovered after she was reported missing in barangay Sangali.

Last November, the body of a bar girl who was brutally killed was found dumped in a canal in Barangay Sinunuc.

A month before, the headless body of a woman was found along the coastline of Sta. Cruz island.  (Dan Toribio)
