TODAY’S MANNA

BY Berlie G. Yap

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” (Jer. 17:7-8, ESV)

Candidly, trust is an incredible feat! It is so expensive that you cannot just give it to anybody, and much to a total stranger. Are there how many ladies in the world today who are suffering lasting regrets, because they trusted men, whom they thought as the real love of their lives, but theylater realized that what they earlier gave was a mistake!

Once you blew-up a thing, you cannot bring it anymore to its original state. The most the you can do is to pick-up your pieces and move on. Of course, you cannot dwell forever in the pains of your failures! We gotta let go of the unnecessary past, to reach our better future. Living in the pains of our failures is a lifetime bondage, which you and I do not deserve. So, hold your trust tight—very tight! Don’t easily give it just to anybody!

If there is a person Whom we can fully trust, and all the time, it is God Himself. The Lord doesn’t fail us. He doesn’t cheat us, too. He is faithful, and remains to be even in our disloyalty, at times. Think of it, you can never find such commitment in the whole wide world! But, why in the universe, people can hardly trust the Creator?

In today’s time, the majority do call you a FOOL, if you believe in God. It is an OUT thing for them, if you follow the tenets of God. In fact, there are some places where people see you as a weakling, if you believe and read the Bible. You seem to be an alien to them. We something live in a total contrast, to how God designed humankindin the beginning.

Rebellion in the hearts of men made him fully adamant to the ways of God. Thus, its consequences are very dire. So, do not wonder why we are living today, in a broken world! We cannot blame God to the same flop which we are fully responsible of. It is our open disobedience to Him, which have exposed us to countless of perils.

Albeit, since from the fall, God almighty has never stopped to reach out to us. Our inner conviction is a good example. Such ain’t just an ordinary guilt in our hearts, every time we commit a mistake. It is the voice of the Holy Spirit, which remind us of the moral standard of God. Do you know what I’m saying? I believe you also feel them, now and then, especially when you are in our personal fork roads.

Trust is a God-given gift. It is an avenue whereby we can develop a true and a genuine relationship to another. This principle works the same to any friendship or love-relationship, either to ordinary lovers or to spouses. Trust buttresses a relationship. It is one of the few critical factors, whereby such true and genuine relationship can grow healthily, and stronger.

Its absence is a sure fatality. Distrust is a cancer which kills both parties who pledged to a relationship. Cheating is another monster, which may not be present right away or at the start of a good relationship. Anytime this ugly devil manifests, it must be dealt with ASAP. Because allowing it to exist overtime, can certainly ruin a relationship along, which may have a good beginning.

Such stuff is pretty important in the character of trust. It is a unanimous act of the parties, and never an act of just a single person. Yes, trust is a mutual thing. It is a give and take commitment. Like a tango, it takes two persons—at least, to develop a lasting trust. After all, it will always be a useless thing, if only one party who bestows TRUST, but the other is not.

It also behooves to both parties, in a relationship, to be trustworthy. Faithfulness is the other balance of trust. It is pretty nice to discuss this subject in the month of love. It pains to the heart of our Father God, to see people nowadays betraying one another. The worst thing which any man can do to his equal, is to betray him.

Keep in your heart these two virtues—trust and faithfulness. If you have them, you belong to the almost extinct specie on earth, whom God is fully bound to preserve. The Lord said, “…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matt. 5:16, ESV)

Light overcomes darkness. There is no enough darkness, in the entire universe, to dispel the power of light. Ain’t it? If we trust each other, and we walk in sincere faithfulness, we indeed are the children of light. Living in these particular virtues, can absolutely elevate us to a level, where the rest will desperately want to emulate. Be the good example God wanted you to be. God bless you.
