The prime suspect in the murder of Rizza Mae Toribio, a 22-year-old girl whose body was buried in Barangay Maasin, surrendered to authorities.

Sinunuc Police Station commander Sr. Inspector Daniel Taub disclosed that Edison Maatubang Macansantos, 42, was accompanied by Maasin Barangay Kagawad Rodolfo Cabugsa Genturalez to the Sinunuc Police Station shortly before 6 p.m. last Sunday.

Macansantos went into hiding after the discovery of his 22-year-old alleged lover buried in a creek at Sitio Cabigan in Maasin.

Toribio had been reported missing since January 29.

Macansantos told Rizza Mae’s parents that their daughter left their residence.

It was learned that Macansantos had been maltreating Toribio prior to the incident.

Police are preparing murder charges against Macansantos.  (Dan Toribio)
