A passenger who made a joke about  carrying an explosive inside his luggage was arrested by police at the Zamboanga Port last Tuesday.

Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer Chief Inspector Helen Galvez identified the passenger as Adrian Balizado, 28 years old and a resident of Lamitan, Basilan province.

The suspect was inside the Philippine Port Authority (PPA) passenger terminal with  a box containing a 32-inch television set.

When port policeman asked Balizado what was inside a box he was carrying, the latter answered in jest that a bomb was inside.

Police immediately arrested the suspect and brought him to Police Station 11.

The suspect will be charged with violation of PD 1727, An Act declaring unlawful the malicious dissemination of false information or the willful making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives or any similar device, commonly known as the Bomb Joke Law. (LAJ)
