First District Congressman Celso Lobregat led school and government officials in the inauguration of a new 4-storey, 24 classroom building at the Zamboanga National High School-West.

The inauguration of the new school building brought the total number of classrooms in the school to 122.

Last January, a 4-storey, 20 classroom building was also inaugurated and turned over to the school.

The two new school buildings eliminated the shifting of classes resulting to more convenience to students and teachers.

“I am also making representation to ask funds from the national government for the construction of another four-storey, eight classroom building to replace the existing one-storey building,”  Lobregat said.

The solon said that he is eager to bring in more infrastructure projects to the school but considering its limited space, no additional structures can be built anymore.

The solon considers education as the solution to poverty.

His priorities in education was set following the footsteps of his late mother Ma. Clara Lobregat who is an advocate of education and grandfather Don Pablo Lorenzo who also became the Secretary of Education during the time of President Elpidio Quirino.

“My responsibility is to create an environment, to make it easier for the teacher to teach and for students to learn,” Lobregat said.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials of the Department of Education, the Department of Public Works and Highways, Baliwasan barangay officials, ZNHS-West faculty, Parents-Teachers Association and the student government of the school.  (Dexter Yap)
