Authorities have prepared a temporary traffic rerouting scheme covering the R.T. Lim Boulevard to the Paseo del Mar for the conduct of two major activities Saturday, February 24 from 1pm to 7pm in line with the celebration of the 81st Dia de la Ciudad de Zamboanga.

The first event, dubbed Lakad Tokhang, is a parade that will begin at the Camp Eduardo Batalla along R.T. Lim Boulevard towards Plaza Pershing from 2pm to 4pm to be participated by forces from the Zamboanga City Police Office and Police Regional Office-9.

Lakad (Lipunin at Kalampagin ang Droga) Tokhang will be held simultaneously nationwide to mark to the launching of the national government’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

The second event, the Music Runvolution will be a mixture of running and dancing through the race route from RT Lim Boulevard to Paseo del Mar. Four music stations will be set up along the route – the Rock Dance Station at City Fire Station, Retro Dance Station at City Hall, Pop Dance Station at BPI Main, and the Hip Hop Dance Station at Lantaka Hotel.

The race will begin at 4 PM at the starting point in RT Lim Boulevard. A Music Fest and Youth Fair will follow at the finish line in Paseo del Mar.

As part of the traffic rerouting scheme, some terminals will be temporarily transferred to other areas to help prevent further traffic congestion. Terminals affected are the loading area for Calarian- Lower, Upper, Malagutay, Southcom Village and Sinunuc which will be moved from JS Alano to Varela St. and the loading area for San Roque which will be moved from Magay to M. Calixto St. from 1pm-7pm Saturday, Feb. 24. (Sheila Covarrubias/PR)
